Ojokoro Community Library

The OJOKORO COMMUNITY LIBRARY located in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Lagos State; was established on the 20th February 2014 by P.E.A with the support of Association Des Espouse and Employee Energy Limited. The goal of setting up the library is to provide a conducive environment for people(especially students) to read and study as well as to also facilitate and give access to educational materials, resources and opportunities.

P.E.A Foundation’s decision to set up the library was further reinforced by the complains of some of the students who had gotten involved with and benefited from P.E.A Foundation activities (e.g. quiz competition and career counseling) about the lack of libraries in their schools as well as the challenges of reading in their often overcrowded homes.

In 20 months from the day of opening the library, over 4000 books had been donated and over 9000 unique visitors have used the library with an average of 70 users per day (which has now become an average 76 users per day). The use of the library is FREE and it has attracted users from as far away as Sango Ota in Ogun State. Our goal is to set up more of such libraries in under served communities across Lagos State and Nigeria.
